Greater Things: Mga Dakilang Bagay

I was so excited kasi alam ko na I’m going to be blessed at the coming KCON Event 2012 led by Bo Sanchez and the Light of Jesus Ministries at SM MOA Arena and Streams at SMX Convention.

Hindi ako nagkamali, the first inspirational talk pa lang by Roselle Ambubuyog, the Blind who became Valedictorian in Primary and Secondary Schools, then Suma Cum Laude at Ateneo University was very inspirational, after all her struggles. Pero, hindi muna ito ang topic ko, sa next blog posts na.

I’ll write today about how I was struck by Bo Sanchez’s words about Greater Things. Binasa niya ang Bible verses at : 1 Kings 19:19-21 About The Call of Elisha:

19 So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. 20 Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother good-by,” he said, “and then I will come with you.”

“Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

21 So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.

It was interpreted as how God approaches and calls those who are busy with their work (dahil nagsasaka nga si Elisha at that time) and threw his cloak around him (annoint at bless) to become his servant (to level up to a greater thing and do works for the Lord).

Ang ginawa ni Elisha ay niluto niya ang kanyang mga kalabaw , at sinunog ang mga gamit sa pagsasaka, at sumunod kay Elijah at nag-serve.

Binigay na Analogy ni Bo ang story about how his son just knew at the beginning how to count from 1 to 10. And through the support ng Mommy niya to continue to a higher level ang pag count to 11 to 20, then 21 to 30, hanggang ma re-reach niya ang up to 100.

Ako naman, I noticed na the last 8 years at tuwing ika-Leap year or every four years, meron akong major career or business breakthrough in my life. Feeling ko, ang body and mind ko naging habit na ang pag-upgrade kasi sa system ng education noon every four years nga diba. In High School you have to study and graduate at the span of four years. Ganun din pag College, normally four years din to become specialized sa course or degree mo, then you graduate.

Ang nangyari sa akin, the first four years ng work ko as a Customer Service Agent in a Call center as my first employment, I learned from the beginning how challenging or difficult it was but then reached to a point na kahit nakapikit you can do your work exceptionally well. Then after a year or so, nag-add pa ko ng skills as a Technical Support Agent and Billing Support agent din. Nag- train din ako ng new staff for induction when the management had seen na may gift naman ako in developing and training/ teaching people of what I know. But, for some reason, something itched in me, I wanted a change by going overseas for work. Kahit gaano ko pa kagusto ang maging trainer and to stay in a Call center industry and just get higher and higher the corporate ladder and get bigger pay. After four long years, I applied for work as an OFW, and resigned.

Sabi ko noon sa sarili ko, I would accept any position or job as long as makaalis lang ng Pilipinas and to get out of my comfort zone and do insanely different. Inapply-an ko lahat, kahit totally out of my college degree, nagpasa ako ng application as waitress, barista, secretary at kung anu-ano pa.

Then I got accepted, I left my very promising career to work overseas as a Saleslady. I accepted though wala man lang akong experience in retail and fashion other than may hilig mag-kalkal sa ukay ukay ng kung anu-anong kakaibang maisusuot at ang aking childhood fantasy of drawing dolls dresses at hilig manood ng Fashion runway sa TV at mag collect ako ng mga Magazines.

Years have passed in Dubai, I learned the ins and outs of the retail business. Visual merchandising o pag-aayos ng mga damit na mas makakabenta. Brand standards at pagfo-fold ng mga t-shirt, jeans at pag rotate ng mga tables at shelves. Face to face selling to customers from different countries and backgrounds.

Then, they have seen my good performance, at nabigyan ng additional tasks na tinanggap ko naman kahit no additonal pay, pag-compute ng store sales, pag te-train sa staff ng tungkol sa products at selling skills, at marami pang admin tasks, kaya naging Senior Sales lady naman ako.

After few years, I got promoted as a Supervisor. Supervising staff of 10 up to 20, mas naging challenging ang role ko, dahil kelangan na akong magbigay ng performance evaluations, and disciplining employees for any offense. I got bigger responsibility to carry the keys to Cash Safe, and to open and close the store properly. Hindi lang yun, I report to a higher management to explain the sales and must have training and business development for everyone. I enjoyed all these, but after four fruitful years, I received a calling again for greater things.

I got back 6 months ago, and used my savings at nag-invest in a start-up Business of mine with a full support of family and a dearest friend who’s still in Dubai. I now own my business and is responsible for the growth and sales productivity of myself, my employees and my partner. I do train and coach my sister who is the Assistant Manager, and train my staff for skills building, and nothing is so fulfilling in serving my customers and the staff being happy to have income for food in their tables.

I just ask and pray for God’s grace everyday that in my living breath I get to do my best and not give up but continue to persist, kahit na these first few months are really trying times in terms of getting traffic (new customers) at talagang mapa-sikat ang business. I’m patiently waiting for an overflow of blessings that in a span of a year or more, we are going to get our investment back and more profits and blessings so we can help and serve more people.

We have to learn how to get out of our comfort zones and be prepared to let go of the past to move on to a higher level, and yes even to go back again to number 1, but to a higher level to reach your goal of 100.

God is not necessarily asking you to burn all the bad things but he is also asking you to burn the good things, yes even those things that are good and perfect can hinder you from greater things.

Bakit Kelangan Pa Natin Ng Insurance Kumpara sa Savings?

SAVINGS

Example: Buwan- buwan nag se-save ka ng Php2000 sa Banko.

End of the year, total ng savings mo ay Php24000 + + (Including interest) (0.3% if in saving account 3% if in Fix Deposit).

Assume na pinagpatuloy mo ito up to 5 years. Total niya ay Php120,000 ++

Unfortunately, na- diagnosed ka ng 1st Stage ng Cancer na kelangan ng Php500,000 for treatment cost.

Thanks for your savings, meron kang Php120,000 but you still need Php380,000.

You have 3 options to fund the balance

  • Borrow
Family and friends will try their best to help you. Try mong makapag- loan sa trabaho kung ma-aapprove ng kumpanya niyo. But to borrow Php380,000 is near impossible unless you have a very rich relative.

  • Sell your assets
You maybe have one or two assets which can be sold. But it takes at least 6 months to sell a house para makapag-hanap ng buyer for example. If your assets still under bank’s loan, hindi mo pa ito maaaring ibenta.

  • Seek for Donation
Nakakapanuod ka ng TV sa Channel 2 and 7 na maraming Pilipino ang humihingi ng tulong as donation for themselves or their kids para sa pera pang-surgery or treatment. If you are disabled or really poor, you are qualified to seek donation under the television programme. Pero, kung ikaw ay income earner na nagta-trabaho naman sa isang big company as an executive, you will not be getting any help by the donation programme, kasi mas marami pang mahihirap na mas kailangan ng donation na ito.

INSURANCE

Example: Ganun din, buwan- buwan you do savings of Php2000 as premium deposit.

End of the year, total ng savings mo ay Php24000 + + Including interest) (9%-10% in InvestmentLink PAA+). Every year nag- cocompound ng patuloy ang interest ng pera mo and keeps on growing, even when you're asleep.

In case something bad happen to you , death or total permanent disabled, Sum Assured Php100,000,000 or 1M ay ma-ci claim ng next of kin or beneficiary mo. (Even if you pay insurance just for one month which is Php2000)

Regular kang nag se-save up to 5 Years. Amounting to Php120,000 ++

Unfortunately, you are diagnosed for Cancer 1st Stage which need Php500,000 for treatment cost.

Now, makaka- claim ka ng it's up to you kung 50% or 100% ng Benefit na Php500,000 or Php 1M para makakuha ka ng the best treatment sa magaling na ospital dito sa Pilipinas or abroad, dahil na-diagnose ka ng one of the 36 critical illness.

If you are unable to work and no money to pay your premium, Contributor plan will continue to pay it dahil sa Fund Value na Interest ng Pera na kinikita ng savings/ investment mo.

As the result, you still receive Protection and your savings still continue growing until age 100.

Sweet Trivia of the Human Body

1.       Nervousness = Butterflies in the Stomach

When we are about to stand up and speak or perform in public, there is this sweat forming your forehead, and butterflies in your stomach you can’t explain. Fear envelopes you more and you become nervous.

But the truth is, it’s the adrenaline preparing your body and mind so you do best for that activity. So when I feel nervous, and have butterflies in my stomach I say thank you Lord, and I smile because I know my body is preparing me intensely for the best performance that I can ever do. I become calmer.

2.       Fear = Lizard Brain: Amygdala

Part of your Brain, a tiny seed-like in your temporal lobe that stores your “highly emotional” experiences in a memory area, and is activating your “fear” emotion when you undergo a similar experience.
Can be a bit tricky because it stereotypes our impression with people or how we act in the situation. It is a conditioning preparation of the brain for you to feel fear, but should not control how we act accordingly.
For example, if I try to have a sound opinion and is being disagreed by a higher authority, and afterwards feeling not to be able to speak your mind again because of fear to be disagreed again. As if your amygdala alarming you, not to do it because of the past experience, then that is wrong.
Because If I think of something commendable, I will not be afraid to try and have a say once again.

3.       Pain = Muscles

Big and developed muscles is an effect of pain. Continuous pain that you try to endure days in a week because of a goal. Weeks and months of labor and undergoing that pain after an intense exercise means you are on your way for an attractive body and health, plus heart and lungs that are stronger.

Great lesson whenever I experience pain and struggle everytime I start a new project or when I'm having that painful learning curve.  I know I’m on my way to have an attractive goal and task done in time soon.

Your Hardships Were Your Training Shoes

We all have our own story  -Very unique but nonetheless very interesting, dahil binubuo ka ng puzzles of hardships and experiences both good and bad.

But we’ll focus on the bad. Mahirap sariwain ang nakaraan na hirap ng buhay, mahirap balikan pero iyon ang mga dahilan kung paano mo narating ngayon ang ginhawa. Or kung hindi pa, you use your bad circumstances to fuel you for a better tomorrow.
1.       That one hardship na hindi kaya ng mga magulang ko ang tuition for a better univeristy so I had to work at night for a Graveyard shift in a Callcenter, and then in the morning to go to college and finish my studies...

-Has Made me a lot stronger now that with focus, and determination you can do anything.

2.       That one hardship when I was being a curious kid at nakabasag ng vase sa office at nasindak sa galit ng isang authority figure, and heard the meanest and nakakapanliit na words, plus reprimanded….
-Has Made me Become More Understanding and Sensitive with the Feelings of Others More lalo pa at nasa position level ako as a Leader, not to do the same things I experienced before.

 3.       That one hardship when I had to sacrifice myself, to learn to be independent by young age to fly out of the country and even if I have my degree but accepted to be Underemployed (accepting a low level job despite education attainment) and venture in a foreign land at magsilbi to earn a little more dollars for a better living of my family….

-Has Made me Become more focused to never let go of hard earned money but instead multiply it through different streams, and help others who like myself was an OFW, but wanted to go back home as a success and keep and grow their savings through proper investment.

These are just a few from a long list of my hardships… But realized and grateful that THESE HARDSHIPS WERE MY TRAINING SHOES for a better future, What’s Yours?

Opportunities Keep On Chasing Me!

Super na-blessed ako to meet an old friend of mine, siguro 10 years ago since noong huli ko siyang makita pero parang hindi siya tumanda at more beautiful or younger siya, to think na galing siya sa big crisis ng buhay niya, but she worked on her life para hindi siya mapariwara dahil she's got two kids, so she helped herself, and now mas closer ang relationship niya with God, at she is being very blessed financially.

She invited me to attend a financial literacy and investment opportunity meeting/ training tonight, it had open doors for meeting long lost friend, and  meeting new friends and most especially to learn about another investment vehicle for me to have money working for me. So I feel so fortunate.

I have also been invited for another set of training to learn how to become a financial consultant, so I can help myself and other people to reflect on their financial life (savings and expenses) and how to better manage your own finances or teach others to invest wisely.

Maganda yung training para sa akin kahit paulit-ulit ko na naririnig ang mga almost same concepts and strategies how to invest or grow your money to work for you. Hindi ako nagsasawa para mas ma- program ang mind ko to be familiar and gain new and more insights on how to well manage your finances.

Ang opportunity niya ay maganda kasi this Financial company gives free financial literacy trainings to better equip you to manage your own finances and maybe in the future kung gusto mo, to invest a little amount (as low as P1500) as savings and at the same time, yung money na na-se save mo grows a handsome return at hindi lang yon, mag kaka-protection ka pa if ever (knock on wood) something happens to you (got hit by a bus or cricital illness) magka -cancer ka, by getting a sum of money to use as expenses sa probably burial/ hospital bills/ money na maiiwan mo sa family mo. Na wag naman sana mangyari, but think about it, you never know what happens in the future, so we better we prepared and care for our loved-ones.

Natutuwa ako, dahil aside from traditional business that I have as investment, I get to know more about other investment opportunities na pwedeng paglagyan ng pera ko so hindi lang sa iisa but sa iba pang investment vehicles which many business people use as technique: yung diversification or not putting all your eggs in one basket but several baskets.

Opportunities to upgrade myself and to reach my dreams keep on chasing me, parang nagpa-pop lang in front of me. It's amazing kasi itong friend ko I got to invite pa to be one of my star sa book ko as part of the 30 Millionaires in their 30s.

Gusto mo bang mag-attend din ng ganitong mga seminars or trainings? I can give you a free invite or can speak to you so I can give you some idea. Please don't hesitate to let me know.

Making Two Books Instead of One

Tell me if any of these seem interesting to you as a reader. What are your thoughts? How can these books help you, and are these topics relevant at "napapanahon"?

1st BOOK: Working Title:

Pinoy Edition:
30 Millionaires in their 30s!
From Scratch to Success

I have now so far 5! And need 25 more to complete these remarkable 30 Millionaires in their 30s! If you do know anyone, please let me know so everyone can learn from them!

I expect their stories to make an impact and motivate many Filipinos their age to not fear and go into business. The Book is unique because it stars young Filipino entrepreneurs who are currently in their 30s or below who have started very young into business and has freshly achieved their first million/s in span of few years. These self-made millionaires tell their humble beginnings and first- hand experiences on how they started their businesses, failures and successes.

2nd BOOK: Working Title:
Bully Proof . . . Bully Free …
Paano bigyan ng kahalagan muli ang sarili mo?

I have experienced bullying from the past, whether bullying from school, from home, authority bullying and (I used to also!) bully myself, and will be talking about the newest cyberbullying.

This book aims to inspire readers who have been imprisoned by the negative belief of themselves because of the traumatic bullying in their past, and how to help them turn it around and gain a positive belief of their worth once again.
