Pasko ng Pagiging Hesus Sa Nangagailangan

It's a season of festivities once again! First time ko after four long years to celebrate Christmas and Holidays dito sa Pilipinas.

So its an amazing feeling to spend this season with the people (family and friends) closest to me, and really re-unite with friends I have not seen for so long. Nakakatuwa to reminisce ng aming high school days for example.

Despite all the cheers, laughter, non-stop food and drinks the past week, I have spent the Noche buena with my Lolo at Lola, and cousins together with the rest of the family. Na-mild stroke kasi ang Lola ko, at gusto namin na maging mas masaya siya sa pasko, seeing all her grandchildren. Prayers and hopes for the future were said. Masaya ako dahil hindi naman grabe ang stroke niya, at konting araw pa lang ng kanyang therapy, she is now able to walk and move her hands.

Then on the 25th after church, I visited together with my mom an orphanage home and gave boxes of milk to babies care of Grace to Be Born at Pasig. We got teary -eyed because of how sweet the little kids were, waiting for visitors to actually embrace them despite the fact that they got abandoned by their own mother/parents.

Then I felt the true essence of Christmas. Naramdaman ko na it is my duty to give, sa kahit na papaanong paraan. Presence, smile, loving touch and hug are the most precious gifts we can give to anyone. At sana hindi lang in times of Christmas, but all year round I wished to do that.

Naniniwala ako na when you do actually give, especially if it hurts you, that's when you are blessed and more rewarded.

It is being a Jesus to others is what makes the true spirit of Christmas meaningful. The Lord, gave his only son through Jesus, because how He love us so much.

And He being born in a dirty little manger is the center of all the festivites, not the fancy clothes and fine dining tables or crystal bowl sets.

2 Corinthians 9:10
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.

Ipon. Ano ang Priority Mong Itabi?

Look at the illustration above.

Protection. Bilang may pananagutan na padre de pamilya o maybahay, o isang single na breadwinner, importante na protektahan mo muna ang sarili mo in case of the impending uncertainty of the future. Parang sa “pie”, it covers a big slice.

Sa panahon na hindi mo alam, it’s like a thief in the night. Sinakitan ka ng dibdib, tumaas ang BP (blood pressure) mo and you had a stroke. Or you crossed the road, and got hit by the bus, pero buhay ka pa, only you are disabled. Where are you going to get the money for the best treatment and therapy?

Paano ang mga mahal mo sa buhay?

Kapag tumigil ka na sa pag-ta trabaho. Paano kaya matutuloy ang kanilang lifestyle?

Alam ko mahal mo sila. Bigyan ng priority ang protection. What's great is that, it's now available linked to investment.

Savings. Gaano kahalaga sa iyo ang pag-iipon? Or when you get your salary, you spend it all? Magtabi kahit konting portion ng iyong kita for emergency man lang. Pwedeng maaari na naiisip mo ang medium term savings para sa anak mo for education or college fund. Get a medium term savings plan.

Investment. Alam ko ang goal is noble, to be wealthy and be financially independent. Very dangerous.

I know you are responsible and you make the
right priorities and decisions.

Para malaman ang iyong savings need, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m a licensed Financial Advisor trained to help you make the best protection, savings and investment plan customized and designed perfectly for you and your family’s needs.
I want to leave you lastly a quote from Bo Sanchez:
"If insurance means not trusting God, then we shouldn't put fire walls and escapes in our windows and fire extinguishers in our homes because God will protect us from fire. Then we shouldn't have locks in our doors and alarm in our cars because God will protect us from thieves. Then we shouldn't take vitamins because God will keep us healthy."

Magkaroon ng Emergency Fund sa Banko

Protect your Financial Fortress, magtabi ng amount of your money in the Bank. Yes, you heard it right, keep a sum of you monthly income and expenses equal to 3- 6 months in the Bank.

§  Nasa umpukan ako around business people and investors on a circle, and someone asked if they still ever save money in the bank. At ang isang Manong ay nagtaas ng kamay and confidently says “I don’t keep any savings in the bank at all. Lahat ng pera ko ay nasa investment vehicles (stocks, bonds, silver & gold at properties)”. Very dangerous mindset.

§  As you know bank gives as little as 0.3% or less. You never should keep any long-term investment in the bank but keep a savings account not for the sake of “ipon” but for short-term transactions.

§  At magtabi ng 3- 6 months worth ng iyong monthly salary at expenses for emergency purposes. Bakit ko sinabi na ang Manong seems like looking for a dangerous pit ay dahil he doesn’t know what is in it for him for the future. Nobody does.

o    What if for some reason his company closes down and he got to leave?
o    What if he got bitten by an aedis aegypti, and had dengue?
o    What if he got mugged and all his cash/ card were lost?
o    What if his car crashed? And he needed to wait for the car’s insurance to have his car fixed, thus he needed to get into transport (palagi gusto niya naka-taxi)?
o    What if all these things happen, at once?

Let’s say about P3000 to P5000.

§  Would this be sufficient if any or all of these instances happen? No.

§  He probably needs about P30, 000 to P50, 000 to keep his lifestyle afloat in one month. Say, he needs about 3 months to look for a better paying job again. He doesn’t want to borrow to friends and family at all at ayaw pa niya maging burden sa kanila.

o   Of course he has investment in stocks and bonds, he can liquidate. Not advisable dahil it’s for long term at hindi maganda na galawin.
o   He has silver and gold coins at bars. Again, it’s long term physical asset at hindi maganda na ibenta kaagad dahil at the current time, mas lugi pa.
o   He has small apartment na he is renting out to tenants, kaylangan niya ng pera at naiisip na i- sangla tira for instant cash, not advisable.

§   Even if you are already an investment savvy, who already has a know- how about investing in stocks, properties etc., you wouldn’t want to touch any of these long-term investments, right?

§   At kahit na you are still starting and learning to buy and sell shares/ stocks online, be wise not to put all of your money there. Keep an emergency fund, for a short- term future (3- 6 months) na probably you can’t work due to any causes.

§   I even did not mention, what if you got into a critical illness (cancer, stroke) in which you need P750, 000 to 1M, or  got into an accident that got you killed. What's going to happen to your loved ones who wanted to give you a nice burial and keep their lifestyle afloat if they can't touch your properties, investment and assets?

Answer to that, as advised by Brian Tracy at kahit dito na lang sa Pilipinas na si Bo Sanchez, get an insurance. Get even a term- insurance.

Advisable Savings Strategy: Better if put in Envelopes, para nakatabi at hindi na magalaw.

Unahin ang mga sumusunod in Order.

100% of your Salary or Net Income should be divided to:

ü  10% Tithes (Give back to God first for all his blessings)

ü  20% Long- term savings (stocks, bonds, term or unit- linked insurance, properties)

ü  10% Emergency Fund (for your indefinite short-term and urgent need)

ü  10% Konting luho na gusto mo (eat-out at fancy restaurant, latest gadget)

ü  50% Your Expenses (Bills, allowance ng nanay mo etc.)

Kahit na you are still starting and learning to buy and sell shares/ stocks online, be wise not to put all of your money there. Keep an emergency fund, for a short- term future (3- 6 months) na probably you can’t work due to any causes.

Mabato vs Luntian

Para kang nasa movie in a scene of “The Mummy Returns”. May mga camel sa paligid ka rin na makikita at di alintana ang sobrang init sa labas, kahit up to 45 degree celcius.
I looked at the expanse of the desert, at may mga nadadaanan kami na mga planta or oil rigs ang tawag nila na nagsisipsip ng langis mula ilalim ng lupa.
Na-realize ko, at some point in their history, the Native Emirati local people who most of them were once fishermen o naghahabi ng palm leaves, are now wealthy because they discovered how rich their “golden oil” o langis na kanilang kayamanan sa ilalim ng mainit na core ng kanilang mga disyerto. Now they export their oil, globally. Lahat ng bansa ay kailangan ng oil for fuel for their cars, electrical plants etc. Eventhough their mountain couldn’t even grow vegetables or fruits. They have found the treasure in their desert, underneath the challenging intense heat, rocks and almost lifeless sandy dunes.

We also had a long drive and seen the difference from Emirates mountains. The Philippines, especially in the rural, have a lot more trees, green lush mountains and rice fields. And I see how the nature was so generous and blessed us with super rich soil that can grow basically anything.
But why most Filipinos are so poor, when Philippines soil and even the sea are very rich?

All the other nationalities are basically depending on the skills of every Filipino. The best of the best daw.

But why do most Filipinos are still living even below the poverty line?

One of the reasons is we have put the 10,000 hours into bad practice. Ang 10,000 Hours ay theory ni Malcolm Gladwell, na in order to be the best in a specialized skill, we have to put in 10,000 hours of repeated practice.

Our ancestors, are mostly farmers and fishermen, who day in and day out use manual labor to plow the ricefields for example.
Don’t get me wrong, we are born by hardworking parents who lean on active income. Kung hindi ka magtatrabaho, hindi ka kakain. So that’s the reason why generations upon generations we are taught only skill-based education. Ang makatapos ng pag-aaral at makapag-trabaho sa malaking kompanya, to be an employee. Then working up the ladder, and depending only on salary, expecting a pension from local government or from the company when it's time to retire.
Philippines is rich of natural resources, but that’s too obvious. It’s born rich and generous, and we simply put in our best manual skills and depend on the works of our hands. We have yet to discover the real treasure for Philippines to make us a wealthy country.

Alam mo ba kung ano ito? Ang Utak ng mga Pilipino.

Ang mga Emirati people, hindi pa obvious noong unang panahon ang kanilang kayamanan, they have to dig deep their rocky lifeless mountains and desert to find their “oil gold”. And they used that resource and built technology para maka-collect ng mas marami pang oil. At kanilang pera ay patuloy sa paglago through various investments.

Kahit sobrang obvious kung gaano tayo ka-yaman na bansa, tayong mga Pilipino, we are so used to only depend on the works of our hands. Pero kulang sa edukasyon ang ating utak dahil hindi ginagamit ng husto ito para mag- add pa ng income streams, to not stay depending on labor and the works of our hands but to have more passive income.

Specifically, we have to increase the Filipinos’ Financial Literacy, which is still yet to achieve.
And I know we are getting there. Very soon.

Every Filipino should discover that they don’t work with their hands alone, but have to use its powerful brain to increase their money mindset. I believe it’s a great fusion.

1.      Magkaroon ng Paper assets (Mutual funds, bonds, and equities)

2.      At Physical assets (gold, silver, platinum)

3.      At Properties (real estate, housing or commercial)

4.      Businesses (traditional and online)

5.      Insurance (unit linked)

Again, we have to increase the Filipinos’ Financial Literacy, which is still yet to achieve.
Kung meron kang tanong tungkol sa mga ito, go ahead and ask me.
Because it is my mission to share my experiences and what I know to increase financial literacy for our fellow Filipinos. Email me at payanewor18@gmail.com.

Don Myer, Despite All The Accolades

Isa sa mga inspirational videos and stories shared to us last KCON 2012 was about Coach Don Myer who had everything coming to him: merits, awards and recognition for stretch of a time coaching NCAA University Basketball teams in the U.S.

Tinagurian siyang isa sa pinakamagaling na Basketball coach and had all the success in his time, sa dami ng mga teams winning left and right under his coaching.

Until... one beautiful afternoon on 2008, turned to a tragedy on the road after a car crash. Not just on his liver, but cancer that has spread on his intestines. Plus his lower left leg needed to be amputated from below the knee due to severe bone injuries.

Matapos lamang ang ilang sandali, ang isang magaling na coach working 24/7 – ang taong dumarating sa gym tuwing umaga before 6 A.M—ay natagpuan ang sarili na mag-reflect and to re-examine his priorities at the age of sixy-three.

Natagpuan niya ang sarili na siya pala ay very much disconnected emotionally to his wife habang he is under therapy and continuous treatment. Dagdag pa nito ang kanyang tatlong mga anak –being on their adulthood now—also disconnected sa kanya at realized kung paano sila noon nakikipag-kumpitensiya with his basketball career para sa kanyang atensyon.

In the months after his diagnosis, he seeked spiritual transformation. And despite his physical ordeal, he reached out to family and friends and former players in a way he had never been able to do before. He made sure to use the most of his time to let those close to him feel how they mattered to him -and in turn he received an outpouring of affirmation that confirmed how deeply he had affected others.

He sustained a truly painful recovery, at sa mga times na he had just enough strength, he would return back to the basketball court once more and – realized a newfound appreciation for the game’s place in his life.

Over two years, in his wheelchair he gained his awards and recognitions again for having to win his team numerous times.

But he quoted that it was never the fortune or the trophies and recognition that made him to persevere. It is his love for every young person in his team. Seeing them develop from the beginning of trainings and helping them reach their maximum potential and be the best.

He retired as a Basketball coach last 2010, and still alive inspiring many people before his meeting with the Lord, our God.

I just want to share a Bible verse about overcoming trials and pushing to persevere:

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

James 1:2-4

Coach Don Myer is a subject of a more extensive biography, How Lucky You Can Be: The Story of Coach Don Meyer, written by ESPN baseball analyst Buster Olney.
This inspirational story of a life renewed by unimaginable hardship, How Lucky You Can Be proves that it's never too late to start making changes—and reminds us that fortune can smile upon us even in our most trying hours. Watch the following video below.

Khoa Bui: An Online Business Millionaire

I was so blessed and grateful last week to meet and interview a young millionaire entrepreneur only by the age of 31, a very down to earth and generous guy named Khoa Bui. Pure Vietnamese, but raised and lived most of his life in Australia, and he has fallen in love with the Philippines and Filipinos so much to live here for over 2 years now.

I'll be posting next week a detailed transcription ng interview ko sa kanya, para mahimay nating lahat ang kanyang secrets of success at mga natutunan sa kanyang experience at mentors. I will give you a preview ng kanyang interview, para sa aking Book entitled: 30 Millionaires in their 30s.

Di ako nagtaka at nagulat na we share the same names of mentors,we like to watch and listen to e.g Brian Tracy, Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, T Harv Ecker at Brendon Burchard, to name a few.

But he has stepped it up and actually met in person and co- authored in a book plus spent a private luncheon with none other than Mr. Brian Tracy himself in the US. Super kaka-inggit kasi, pangarap ko yun, I hope and pray to meet him also in person very soon. Sana maintay ako ni Brian Tracy kahit super tanda na niya to meet me in the flesh also hehehe. As would like to express a deep appreciation how he has helped me develop in a lot of areas in my life. You will find a video of Brian Tracy from one my posts ex. Written Goal setting, How-is-it-important?

Back to Khoa, despite his strong Aussie accent, he's got a share of humble beginnings also, he wasn't born rich by his parents. As a matter or fact, na-share niya sa akin how his parents took the boat to run away from the devastating Vietnam war to live in Australia. For the sake of History, death toll and chemical warfare left between 1 million and 4 million, and many thousands more crippled between the war of US and Viet from 1950s to 1970s.

So he was born and lived in Australia all his life. But as advised by his loving parents, the same advice of most Filipino parents, to study hard and graduate. Then to be employed by a good company, and of course to faithfully save his money/ income.

Ginawa niya lahat yun, and he even had to clear tables and be a waiter and mop floors at his parents' small cafeteria. Taking a lot of risk, he found his passion at online website building and designing, and he shared to me how difficult it was at the beginning to find clients. Nag- resign siya to do his best but he couldn't stand to look little by little at his depleting bank account, but after a year, he had a breakthrough and found one client that actually saved his first major business breakthrough.

More years have passed, and he was able to buy real estate properties, at patuloy sa kanyang mga streams of income and actually reached the million!

He is now very busy with training and developing more Filipinos here with his knowledge and his ideas about making it big with online business and personal development topics.

I asked him as to why he helps a lot of Filipinos?

Sabi niya, during the war decades ago, it is the Philippines who has given the most help in terms of refuge, basic needs, even financial and moral to war-struck Vietnamese people. So he has made it his mission to also give back to the Filipinos. Very inspiring story.

Catch him and his workshops/ seminars. Add Khoa Bui on Facebook!

Or follow him at his website:
